Paper & Pulp Mills
Finch Paper to shut down pulp-making at its Glens Falls, NY mill Finch Paper announced Saturday that it will cease pulp production at its Glens Falls mill and instead buy pre-made pulp, primarily from Canada; affected pulp mill and wood-yard employees are being offered other positions within the company. The change ends Finch's purchases of large log volumes from Northeast and New England suppliers — roughly 45-50 log trucks per day (about 20,000 annually) — removing a key pulpwood market for Adirondack loggers and leaving Sylvamo's Ticonderoga mill as the main regional alternative buyer.
