Lenzing selects ANDRITZ for new debarking and chipping line in Austria. Lenzing AG ordered a complete wood handling line — including a hydrostatically supported debarking drum, log washing system and a horizontally fed HHQ-Chipper — with a processing capacity of 400 m³ of logs per hour for its Austrian dissolving pulp mill. Start-up is slated for Q4 2027, and the delivery marks ANDRITZ's 200th HHQ-Chipper in a partnership dating back to 2003. Source: ANDRITZ
Graphic Packaging launches PaceSetter Ridgeline recycled paperboard grade from Waco mill. The new uncoated recycled paperboard grade, produced at the company's Waco, Texas mill, is made from 100% recycled fiber with a minimum 45% post-consumer content and is available in 14- to 30-point calipers for folding cartons, laminations, edge protectors, tubes and cores. Holiday lull slows lumber sales but tight supply keeps prices firm. Madison's reports that trading slowed around the Canada Day and Independence Day holidays, yet benchmark Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2x4 held at US$500/mfbm — up 3% from a year ago and 40% from two years ago — as tight inventories at all levels forced hand-to-mouth buying. Worsening rail and truck availability, extreme heat and wildfires are compounding supply challenges, while Quebec mills enter summer shutdowns and Southern Yellow Pine demand stays surprisingly strong.
