Valmet launches strategic review that could split the company in two Valmet's Board is evaluating whether separating its two segments — Biomaterial Solutions and Services, and Process Performance Solutions — into independent publicly listed companies would create more shareholder value than the current combined structure, noting the businesses serve different customer industries with distinct drivers and capital needs (Process Performance Solutions now generates roughly EUR 1.7 billion in annual net sales following the Severn acquisition). Billerud reports improved second-quarter results on cost savings and North American strength Billerud posted a clear sequential improvement in profitability and cash generation, with currency-neutral North American net sales up 11% year-over-year on the highest shipments since late 2022, SEK 150 million of quarterly cost savings in Europe, and 97% cash conversion. Management expects somewhat improved conditions in Q3 on strong order books and positive pricing momentum, while pressing ahead with its packaging-materials transition including planned upgrades at Escanaba.
