Södra posts SEK 424 million Q2 operating loss on weak demand Sweden's Södra reported a second-quarter 2026 operating loss of SEK 424 million on net sales of SEK 6,947 million (down 3.4% year-over-year), with CEO Lotta Lyrå citing depressed demand and a global supply-demand imbalance pressuring pulp prices. Sawn timber demand was weak in Sweden, the US and UK, while efficiency measures under the Södra Leap program delivered SEK 122 million in improvements and cut overheads by SEK 200 million. Valmet's pulp and energy chief Sami Riekkola to leave the company Valmet announced that Sami Riekkola, Executive Vice President of its Pulp, Energy and Circularity business area and a 28-year company veteran, will depart by January 22, 2027; recruitment of a successor begins immediately.
