PCA posts record corrugated shipments in Q2, sales rise to $2.5 billion Packaging Corporation of America reported second-quarter net income of $192 million ($2.15 per share; $2.35 excluding special items) on net sales of $2.5 billion, up from $2.2 billion a year ago, with total corrugated shipments up 24.3% — an all-time quarterly record — helped by the acquired Greif business, and containerboard production of 1,415,000 tons. Management guided Q3 to $2.91 per share, expecting continued strong packaging demand and higher containerboard prices as announced increases take effect. Source: PaperAge

USDA commits $80 million in guaranteed loans to expand timber production in Nevada and Oregon USDA announced $80 million through the Timber Production Expansion Guaranteed Loan Program: $50 million to Tahoe Forest Products in Nevada for kilns, a planer mill and a new saw line adding 60,000 MBF of lumber capacity, and $30 million to Clatskanie Scion LLC in Oregon to build a new sawmill for Myers Woodline expected to create at least 35 jobs. The program, run with the U.S. Forest Service, supports the goal of expanding American timber production by 25% and has now invested $165.2 million across 10 states. Source: USDA

USDA FAS: EU wood pellet consumption to grow 2% in 2026 on residential demand A new USDA Foreign Agricultural Service report forecasts European Union wood pellet consumption will expand about 2% in 2026, driven primarily by residential heating demand and greater use of residual wood, supporting a partial recovery in EU wood pellet imports.
